BENROMACH 2004 SASSICAIA WOOD FINISH
Since it began in 1900, production at Benromach distillery was always fairly patchy. In 1983 a downturn in the market, coupled with an over abundance of maturing stock, meant the owners at the time, DCL, decided the distillery was surplus to requirements, and they closed Benromach for good.
The empty building sat dormant in the Speyside town of Forres for 11 years before it was bought by Elgin based independent bottler, Gordon & MacPhail. G&M rejuvenated the brand, with a focus on producing an older style Speyside whisky exhibiting a hint of peat smoke. Today, Benromach boasts a large core range, supplemented by frequent limited editions and single cask releases.
Finished in Italian Sassicaia wine casks.
