AMENDMENT TO PROVENANCE WWII GERMAN SS INTELLIGENCE OFFICER'S CHAINED DRESS DAGGER 1936 pattern, the black ebony handle with enamelled 'SS' runes and with inserted eagle, the back of the replacement hand guard engraved 'Sa', the blade etched with Meine Ehre Heist Treue (My Honour is called Loyalty), the scabbard is fitted with hanging chains bearing 'SS' runes and skull motifs respectively, 37cm long overall Note: By repute, the dagger was recovered from a ruined building by Allied troops in Brussels during WWII. The gentleman who recovered the dagger had been an Inteligence Office in the British Army and, in 1944, was amongst the first allied troops to enter Brussels after occupying Germans had left. By the time his unit got to the buildings used by the SS, locals had ransacked the offices, however, he found this dagger in the debris and brought it back to the UK.
