Lot 955

JIM BAXTER'S SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL JERSEY, said to have been worn in a match versus Czechoslovakia in the 1960s. Provenance: This jersey was given to the vendor after his father passed away, to whom it had been bequeathed to his gradfather William Allan. William Allan was a good family friend of the Baxters having grown up in the village of Hill Of Beath and owned the only village paper shop where the Baxters often called into, sometimes to ask for financial help or advice when Jim got himself into trouble. In the words of the vendor ''By this, it was normally a case that my grandfather had to bail Jim out of whatever situation he got himself in, to allow him to play football on the Saturday with either Raith Rovers or Rangers and as a thank you, I am led to believe that Jim handed my grandfather the shirt after playing a game against Czechoslovakia in the 1960's. I am unsure of the actual match and due to the passing of my father. It has never been washed or worn again.''
