The Rare & Fine Whisky Auction

The Rare & Fine Whisky Auction

Date: Fri, 3rd Dec 2021 10:30

With the festive period drawing ever closer, this auction brings over 250 lots of whisky, wine and gin. At the top of the Christmas wish list for many collectors is lot 234, the old style Macallan 30 years old with the distinctive blue label. This richly sherried spirit has a pre-auction estimate of £4,000-£5,000.

Alternatively lot 4 is a slightly older Macallan, aged for 32 years, and bottled by Douglas Laing under the Old & Rare Platinum Series, and is expected to achieve £1,500-£2,000.

Looking to add to your Rare Malts collection? Look no further than the eleven bottlings on offer, from St Magdalene, Teaninich, Hillside and Mannochmore, amongst others.

In addition to these fantastic collectors’ bottles, the auction features deliciously drinkable spirits, including modern bottles from the newer generation of distilleries such as Ailsa Bay and Kingsbarns, hidden in the crowd of the classic distilleries, Glendronach, Bowmore, Highland Park and others.

Viewing is open to the public from Wednesday 1st December at 9am.

The Silver Auction

The Silver Auction

Date: Thu, 16th Dec 2021 10:30

Silver from the Georgian period to modern day is well represented in this auction, starting with a George II beer jug – well decorated in repousse, a pint rarely looks so elegant. For the more sober minded, a tea spoon from known temperance advocate Mrs Cranston’s Tea Rooms designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh is sure to fit the bill. Collectors of more contemporary pieces will surely be taken with a stag made by no less than Asprey represents modern silversmithing at its finest, being of fine detail and convenient size. With an impressive George III tankard and pair of William Hutton candlesticks alongside as well as silver from Scandinavia and Russia, all tastes will be catered to.

The British & Continental Ceramics & Glass Auction

The British & Continental Ceramics & Glass Auction

Date: Thu, 16th Dec 2021 12:30

This latest instalment brings auction favourite Clarice Cliff to Glasgow in a dazzle of colour with a private collection of Crocus and Gayday wares. Meissen is another famous name in ceramics and this historic factory is represented by a charming double salt modelled as a young merchant boy sat with his baskets. Appreciation for British studio glass is on the rise: Mdina glass is known for its bold forms and Mediterranean hues and a fish vase ticks all the boxes for keen collectors; Peter Layton will be a name for the future and two pieces, both signed but markedly different in style reflecting his consistently varied output, feature here.    Alongside these highlights Royal Worcester, Zsolnay Pecs and Baccarat are just some of the names set to feature.

The Asian Works of Art Auction

The Asian Works of Art Auction

Date: Fri, 17th Dec 2021 12:30

A good selection of Japanese Meiji-period shibayama leads proceedings with a finely carved mushroom, gourds and cherries – all inset with charming insects, the superb detail of these whimsical creations is to be marvelled at. Representing China is a rare revolving vase, technically complex to make with an internal core and fine reticulation, it is a good example within the growing market of Republic Period porcelain. And for collectors of 18th century pieces, a group of armorial export porcelain including a mug with charmingly misspelt legend will be of interest. All complimented by a good cross-section of Oriental furniture, bronzes, rugs and much more.
