Happy Diamonds, Happy Spirit

Chopard’s Happy Diamonds collection was created in the 1970’s and remains one of the company’s staple collections today. These pieces, each set with free moving diamonds under glass, are instantly recognisable.

Happy Diamonds were created when designer Ronald Kurowski was taking a walk through the Black Forest in Germany when he stumbled upon a waterfall.  He was mesmerised by the sight of the tiny water droplets bursting out and catching the daylight, reflecting all the colours of the rainbow. This sparked an idea that diamonds should not be constricted by settings and shanks, but rather set free to enable them to sparkle in their natural, dazzling radiance.

Lot 77 in The Jewellery Auction on 11 August is a Chopard Happy Spirit pendant. Set with two circular sections housing a 0.10 carat diamond, the diamond dances under the glass as the wearer moves. On a glittering three strand chain, this is estimated at £1500-2500.

If you fancy doubling up and adding some earrings to match, then look no further than lot 38. This is a pair of Happy Spirit earrings of the same design. Their smaller size makes these perfect for everyday wear. Estimate - £1800-2500.

With items on view from 10am on Thursday the 8th of August, why not come along and have a look at these items in person? Happy diamonds equals a happy spirit after all!
