Mctear's on the Road

A team of specialists from McTear’s is heading back to Elgin following a series of successful trips that uncovered a host of hidden treasures in the town.

Members of the public with a piece of art, jewellery, unusual bottle of whisky or any other interesting items that they would like valued are being encouraged to bring the pieces along to the free valuation event at the Mansefield Hotel, Elgin, on Saturday 5th October.

“We have had several great trips to Elgin with rare whisky, jewellery and paintings all coming to light,” said McTear’s Managing Director, Brian Clements.

“One local consignment saw a bottle of Macallan 1946 sell for £8000 and another local resident was delighted when a Chinese bronze figure fetched £500. Locally consigned jewellery, watches and coins have also been performing very well at auction.”

In addition to Brian, the McTear’s team will include Asian arts specialist Magda Ketterer, and whisky specialist Graeme Maxwell.

Graeme added: “We have seen prices for rare whiskies rocket over the past few years as collectors look to the spirit as a good investment opportunity.  So before you crack open that old bottle of Macallan or Highland Park, you may want to nip along and see what it’s worth first.”

If you have items too large or numerous to bring along, arrangements can be made for a home visit. McTear’s also offers a free online valuation service. Simply visit mctears.co.uk/whats-it-worth

In addition to a series of dedicated auctions at the company’s Glasgow saleroom, every auction lot at McTear’s will appear on a specialist online sales platform. The saleroom.com reaches 1.2 million potential buyers in 120 countries every month, ensuring that your precious item will reach the right buyer.
