Bronze Sculptures | Michael Simpson

Of the impressive collection of bronze sculptures that feature in the forthcoming The Works of Art, Medals, Militaria & Furniture Auction, eleven are the work of English sculptor Michael Simpson. Inspired by the artistic traditions of his home town, Stoke-on-Trent, Simpson cultivated his talents with a fine art education at Staffordshire. Simpson has since engaged his strong artistic foundations to create impressive sculptures which demonstrate his fascination with animals and animal behaviour.

The Simpson sculptures in this auction exude the sense of life and energy for which the sculptor is so esteemed, with animals including hares, stags, mice and birds. Amongst the lots are three striking figure groups of duelling stags, modelled with antlers locked, poised upon a naturalistic base. Each of the three come estimated at £80-120 (lots 1421, 1422 & 1428).  Other unmissable highlights by Simpson include a lovely lot of five bronzed resin mice (lot 1431) and two spritely trios of hares, modelled boxing (lot 1420) and playing (lot 1427). With estimates ranging from the low tens into the low hundreds of pounds, a Simpson sculpture could prove the perfect addition to your collection.

The Works of Art, Medals, Militaria & Furniture Auction starts at 1pm, Friday 28 August.
