January’s Whisky Auction brings over 300 lots of fine whiskies, wines and other spirits, perfect to toast the Bard this Burns night.
Leading the way is the instantly recognisable Black Bowmore 1964 First release with an estimate of £10,000-£15,000. Matured for 29 years in first fill sherry casks, and bottled in 1993, this is a truly legendary spirit.
Making a rare appearance at auction is the Glenglassaugh 1966 aged 45 years. The distillery was mothballed in 1986, before reopening its doors in 2008. This beautiful decanter comes with two crystal glasses, which is presented in a polished wooden box, and has an estimate of £4500-£5000.
Macallan shows its class with the 1980 Exceptional Cask. A rare and highly desirable 21 year old single sherry cask matured spirit, a real gem that will excite collectors and drinkers alike, with a pre-auction estimate of £2500-£3500.
Following on from the success of the Rare Malts bottlings in the December Whisky Auction, there are nine more going under the hammer, including examples from Millburn, Mannochmore, Hillside, and Linkwood.
