Charmed, I’m sure

The Jewellery Auction on Wednesday 18 July featured a charming charm bracelet. Very popular in the mid to late 20th century, these bracelets were often given as gifts with just one or two charms attached. The owner would then buy or be given further charms to celebrate important life events such as birthdays, marriage and holidays.

Lot 602 sold for £770 including fees and featured a dachshund and tankard charm. Lot 569, another charm bracelet, sold for £640 including fees to a bidder in the room. With charms including a fish and a boxing glove, the original wearer’s pursuits and experience must have been very varied!

The next Jewellery Auction takes place on 12 August and entries are currently invited.
