The star of the Friday 16 March Clocks, Scientific & Musical Instruments Auction was the elegant and unassuming Cartier desk clock in lot 1409. The luminous green nephrite of the surround catches the light to show its delicate marbled effect and clearly caught the eye of our bidders. The slender silver mounts with their Art Deco elegance complement the silvered dial and the Art Deco shaped hands.
Lot 1409, art deco desk clock by Cartier, sold for £1200
This beautiful clock attracted much interest on the view and online. This considerable interest translated into keen bidding with bids left on commission and online but ultimately the winning bidder was a UK buyer who paid an excellent hammer price of £1,200 for the timepiece.
