Desirable Art Deco diamonds

Chances are that if you ask someone their favourite era of design, they will very likely say Art Deco. Part of this is down to the term being common in everyday parlance; most have heard of it. With its easy to recognise straight lines, bold geometric shapes and sweeping curves, objects and buildings created in this style are far easier to identify than those in other manners.

The popularity of Art Deco features in modern jewellery is notable. The prices achieved by coveted original pieces are also at an all-time high at auction. It is their familiar shapes and arrangements of stones that have become classic in the eyes of bidders. These items are often very wearable, in the form of rings and, in the case of lot 2 in the Jewellery Auction on 20 May, earrings. These present a seemingly modest pair, but with their total combined diamond weight of over half a carat and 2cm length, they are more than eye-catching on the ear. Bidders should consider teaming these up with one of the four rings in the style that are also in the sale, lots 9, 23, 27, 34, to complete the sophisticated look.
