Fans of sci-fi, James Bond and traditional toys are in for a treat this month as we offer a selection of rare vintage models, books and posters in our upcoming Toys, Models & Pop Culture Auction.
Headlining the sale on 3 December is a magnificent Stevenson Brothers Millennium Edition rocking horse. Handcrafted in the company’s workshop in Kent, the piece could fetch £2,000.
Meanwhile fans of a certain cheeky little blue engine can get their hands on an extremely rare signed first edition of Thomas the Tank Engine – The Complete Collection from 1996.
Trekkies will also be spoiled for choice, as a selection of rare models beam into the saleroom. Choose from scale models of the Enterprise, Romulan drone, a Bajoran Raider and Sovereign Class Captains Yacht, each with an estimate of £200 to £300.
If Star Trek isn’t your thing, then perhaps an original Bond movie poster from the 1987 blockbuster The Living Daylights will shake and stir you. The poster, which features Brian Bysouth’s unmistakeable artwork could be yours for £400.
Petrol heads will have several lots to choose from, with a selection of mint condition F1 models to feature on the auction podium. The Minichamps lots include racers from across the generations, with McLarens, Mercedes’, Red Bulls and Williams all on offer.
Commenting on the auction, our managing director, Brian Clements, said: “The Toys, Models and Pop Culture auction has become a firm favourite in the McTear’s calendar. Our December sale continues this trend with the auction packed with a selection of ‘must have’ lots for fans of sci-fi, Bond, F1 and traditional vintage toys.”
In addition to the Bond, Star Trek and F1 lots, the auction will feature numerous other fascinating pieces, including a vintage Star Wars Darth Vader light saber, chess sets, and mid-century model cars and trains.
