A rare and impressive French Boulle and brass banded wall clock (lot 1460) was the top seller in the Clocks, Musical & Scientific Instrument Auction on 2 February, achieving a stunning £2,700 hammer (£1,200 over the high estimate).
More than simply a timepiece, the clock gathered a lot of attention whilst on view and stands as a marvellous example of the Boulle technique perfected by Andre-Charles Boulle during the 17th century.
Alongside this lot, we also saw a K-24 Lens Cone Aircraft Survey Camera (lot 1420 – hammer £160) and a Military Issue Diver’s Torch by Siebe-Gorman (Lot 1428 – hammer £120) achieve good results, showing that the military-themed lots are still a favourite amongst buyers.
Entries are invited for the next auction on 16 March.
