Lalique | the ultimate symbol of French luxury

The Lalique company was founded by renowned glassmaker and jeweller René Lalique in 1888, before taking the world by storm and becoming one of the foremost names in Art Nouveau, and later Art Deco design. Whilst the company continues to produce luxury pieces up to this day, it is those earlier pieces that tend to command a premium at auction.

This breathtaking Lalique ‘Ceylan’ pattern vase will be coming up for sale in McTear’ inaugural British and Continental Ceramics & Glass auction of 2021, on 20 January. The vase, with its ethereal opalescent finish, is estimated at £3,000-5,000, a sum that could well rival the record breaking £5,500 achieved at McTear’s for an early ‘Formose’ pattern vase nearly a year ago to the day in 2020.
