This painting, once the property of one of Britain’s favourite artists Laurence Stephen Lowry, comes up for auction next month at McTear’s Scottish Contemporary Art Auction. Lowry, famous for his seemingly simple depictions of working-class life in the industrial parts of northern England, purchased the painting for the grand sum of 30 Guineas in 1964.
