Make no bones about it

British jewellery designer Theo Fennell once said that immortality would be one thing that would improve his life. In contrast with this are his diamond set skull rings- a modern take on memento mori jewellery that was very popular from the 17th to early 19th centuries. Fennel's skull rings are one of his most popular designs and are loved by celebrities, now you can own one too. Lot 183 in the jewellery sale on the 25 February jewellery sale is a black diamond set skull ring with an overlaid white diamond set snake £2800–3500.

If you are seeking a more modest everyday jewel the skull ring at lot 219 is an eighteen-carat white gold example by Italian designer Gavello.  This item is understated yet still eye-catching and is estimated at £1000-1500.
