McTear’s has been named Scotland’s favourite auction house in an independent survey of the industry in Scotland.
The ScotPulse research on behalf of STV looked at all aspects of the industry, with the results showing that the Glasgow business is not only the country’s favourite auctioneer, but is also the most recognised name amongst the Scottish public.
The research findings reinforce McTear’s long held position as a leader in the auction of Scottish Contemporary Art, whisky, jewellery and sports memorabilia, and come on the back of a successful 2022 that saw over 32,900 lots go under the hammer in 162 sales.
The ScotPulse researchers interviewed more than 1,000 members of the public at the end of 2022 to find out their views on Scotland’s auction industry.
When asked to name their favourite auction house to visit, a total of nine businesses were referenced unprompted, with more respondents naming McTear’s than the rest of the auctioneers combined. When prompted, 62% of all respondents had heard of McTear’s, with only 18% for the next most recognised name.
