Navigate your way to McTear’s this month…

If you find your way to our Glasgow Galleries on Friday, you’re certain to navigate your way home easily enough. One lucky bidder shall anyway!

Tiny trinkets come to auction almost every week at McTear’s, but pocket sized scientific instruments? Not so common an occurrence! As such, an early 20th century pocket barometer/compass is a rather rare and really very lovely feature of the upcoming Jewellery Auction this November at McTear’s.

Featuring at lot 932, this charming little item features a compass to one side, and a barometer to the other, all contained within a case marked 18CT. If you’re struggling to envisage the scale of this dinky little treasure, we can confirm that the case measures a minute 27mm, just a few millimetres more than a £1 coin!

This will go under the hammer in The Jewellery Auction on 20 November, estimated at £100-150, so don’t lose your way to McTear’s this Friday.
