Off To a Flying Start

Breitling is recognised as being the world’s leading watch brand for the aviation industry. The company is responsible for providing pilots with the ability to calculate complex algorithms such as fuel consumption, average speed and climbing speed through their wrist watches.

If you have ever looked at the dial of a Breitling watch, you will have noted it is densely populated with small numerals and multiple dials, all of which can be used by pilots to perform calculations without the assistance of any other tools.

Lot 852 in the upcoming Watches Auction, 22 May, is a stainless steel Breitling Chronometre wristwatch. With an attractive grey dial and anti-glare sapphire crystal, this is a watch which is practical for not only pilots but also perfect for the man with his feet on the ground.

Estimated at £1000 – £1500, we predict that this watch will fly!
