Art Gout Beaute, the full title of which translates to Art, Good Taste & Beauty – Pages of Feminine Elegance, was published in Paris from 1920 until 1933. In this short period, the periodical earned a reputation as one of the most luxurious, premium fashion periodicals of the time. Filled with fantastic French fashion illustrations and brilliant Art Deco advertisements, everything about these stunning magazines ooze luxury. Forget binding or staples, each copy is exquisitely bound together with a gold coloured silk cord!
A rather entrancing lot of six editions of Art Gout Beaute features in The Works of Art, Medals, Militaria & Furniture Auction at McTear’s this month (lot 1403). This rare offering comes with an auction estimate of £200-400.

Published over a similar period - from the 1920s into the early 1930s - Tres Parisien features incredible fashion illustrations, enhanced by charming titles and descriptions. Three editions of Tres Parisien from 1921, comprising a total of over forty stunning plates, will go under the hammer at McTear’s this February (lot 1405).
