The First of Many ...

Opening 2021’s calendar of Asian Works of Art Auctions is January’s specialist sale, bringing over 160 lots from China, Japan, India and Korea under the hammer. African and Middle Eastern works feature, too, and the auction offers buyers an exciting variety of artworks to suit all collections.

A Chinese famille noire vase stands out not only for its large size but for its abundant and vibrant floral decoration. Famille rose is also nicely represented in the form of a large circular bowl.

Two Japanese bronzes of note are a cart pulled by five figures and an elderly man with a child. Each is delicate and emotive in its own way. Japanese satsuma and enamel objets d’art can be found aplenty, alongside woodblock prints, Indian paintings, silver and white metal works, jade and soapstone, as well as African wood carvings.

Don’t miss the auction on Wednesday 20 January. Entries are warmly invited for the next Asian Works of Art Auction, taking place 8 April 2021.
