The World in Mint” auction today featured the very best in philately and, for the first time, deltiology, as postcards were welcomed to the dedicated Stamps Auction. The sale started with a bang: lot 1301, a Davo Italy album sold for £1500, representing the finest of curated single-country albums. Lot 1405 was an incredible collection of football themed stamps across six custom-made albums. With such a high degree of completion and global representation throughout, it’s no wonder the collection scored £1200 on the hammer.
Consignments are invited for the next sale in September, welcoming postal history, postcards, stamps and covers. Advice on selling Stamps is free and without obligation. Stamps have a very specific place in the collecting world and, as a leading auctioneer, McTear’s has handled major stamp collections in the past. We are pleased that the time has now come for a dedicated department and auction. This inaugural auction brought to the market stamps from GB, European, US, Commonwealth and much more.
Face value
Where a 'face value' is stated, it means a lot includes stamps that can be used to send mail for many years to come, although small stamps after 31 January 2023 will have to be exchanged for more secure stamps. Commemorative stamps are unaffected by the Royal Mail rule change (more detailed explanation available on request).
Catalogue Price
Where, for example, Cat at £100 is stated, this means that this is the latest catalogue price in the Stanley Gibbons stamp catalogue.
