Prices and excitement were high in the saleroom, with bidders in the room, on the phone, and online, from as far as afield as Mexico, making the sale a truly international one.
Bidding was strong from beginning to end. Five pictures by Scottish artist Arthur MacDonald were offered, and all five went away over estimate, with a cumulative hammer price of £5,600.
The fiercest competition may have been with an oil attributed to Evelyn Mary Dunbar, with a hammer price of £9000, 9x the high estimate of £1000. The star of the day was no doubt John MacLauchlan Milne, with a small watercolour selling for £800 and his stunning oil depiction of Iona selling for £20,000.
