The August whisky auction saw a busy room yield some excellent hammer prices. It almost goes without saying these days that Macallan was one of the top performers, with three bottles of 25-Year-Old Anniversary Malt achieving over £3000 each. Dalmore delivered the goods too, in the form of a sublime 50-Year-Old, as well as a decedent 1960 vintage 25 Year-Old, and a sumptuous 1973 33-Year-Old, each of which exceeded expectations. In amongst the heavyweight offerings there were still plenty of great drinkers to be had at reasonable prices, and we remiss if we didn’t mention some of the miniature lots that offered bidders the chance to sample old and rare expressions without having to break the bank.
