March’s Scottish Pictures Auction includes a fine curation of the great names in Scottish art over the last two centuries
The bi-annual auction brings together an exceptional group of artworks, representing the best of Scotland’s artistic output from the 19th century to present. Among our lots you will find breath-taking depictions of the Scottish landscape, but also of Egypt, Spain and France. There are portraits with patient sitters and carefully styled still lifes.
Across 44 lots is the story of Scottish art in the recent centuries, giving a taste of the Colourists and the Glasgow Boys, the Edinburgh School and Modernism, leading us all the way into post-war and contemporary artists, such as the esteemed Joan Eardley, featuring in lot 33 in the sale. Scotland has been consistently producing world-class artists, and the Scottish Pictures Auction at McTear’s is just the place to celebrate such artworks.
