The Lombard Collection | Jewels of Scotland

McTear’s are delighted to announce that from the beginning of October we will be hosting a limited series of auctions dedicated to the prestigious Lombard Whisky Collection.

The family run company was founded by Margaret Lombard-Chibnall in the 1960s, initially as a bulk supplier of blending stock to the booming whisky industry. But, thanks to clever investment in only the most exceptional whiskies and casks, it wasn’t long until Lombard made the logical jump to independent bottler. Since then, the company have been responsible for some of the most interesting and exciting independent releases of the last few decades, many of which will be going under the hammer in our upcoming auctions.

Highlights include a pair of 1969 vintage Springbanks, both bottled at over forty years of age, a 1982 vintage from the original Brora distillery in Sutherland, and a 1973 Glenury Royal that left Whisky Magazine’s review panel lost for words (or at least column inches):

Following on from The Scottish Contemporary Art Auction, this month’s whisky sale offers a different taste of Scotland, but one that’s no less of a feast for the senses.
